January 08

“I can’t believe it has been a whole year since I have not become a better person”

Eight days into 2014 and by now I would imagine a few New Year resolutions have already been broken? Rather than focus on the things we are not going to do anymore, my advice would be to do the opposite. Instead, focus on the things that you are going to do, the things you are going to experience this year, the people you are going to meet, the places you are going to see… the skills you are going to learn…

What do you choose to be? Who do you choose to be?Take some time to really think about the person you will be in January 2015 and write it down confidently and positively –  I will be doing… I will be a… I will have traveled to… I will be living in… I will be earning… Read this out loud as often as you without seeming crazy, then start acting, feeling, and behaving like that person… the rest will follow. It may sound simple but it works, there are far better things ahead than any we leave behind – you can be whomever it is you want to be.

How do I know this? I was an abused and homeless teen with countless tales of anguish and despair but by focusing on what I did have, what I could build on and most importantly who I wanted to become, today sees me owning a beautiful home, I have had the pleasure of working in and running some of the most prestigious businesses in London and I am certainly on my way to making my 10 year retirement plan my reality… but yes, I still smoke too much, exercise too little and stay up too late!

Be happy this new year and don’t waste the chance to make 2014 work for you. Time is so precious and whilst it’s still on your side, you deserve to live the best life you possibly can. The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.

“You treated me like an option so I left you like a choice”
